The event which took place on 21st November 2020 was held on the southern campus of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS) at Saltpond. Alex Omane.

In a sermon preached by Rev. Prof. Frederick Kyereko themed “Deathday is better than birthday”, he noted that the day the Christian dies is better than the day he was born. With the scripture reading taken from 2 Corinthians 5:1-10, Prof. Frederick Kyereko emphasized the three reasons why the Christian death day is better than the day he was born. He indicated that death offers the Christian a better house and suggested that as “Rev. Omane leaves us today…he has been taken to his permanent, perfect and unlimited house built by God”. The next reason was that death offers the Christian a heavenly cloth or access to a better dress. This dress is described as a superior dress that doesn’t expose our nakedness. Finally, after death, the Christian will be rewarded for his/or deeds on earth. He admonished the congregants present to work hard so they are rewarded after death and stated that Rev. Omane will be rewarded for his works. Prof. Frederick Kyereko who happened to be a friend to the late Rev. Omane summarized his sermon by insisting that “No Death, No better house; No death, No reward”.

The General Superintendent, Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong Manso led the congregants to offer prayers to the bereaved family. Tributes were also read on the occasion with notable ones from the widow. Mrs. Mary Omane eulogized her late husband as “father, brother, Pastor, prayer partner, teacher, counselor and encourager who had always supported her and was solidly behind her in all endeavors”. She also indicated that Rev. Omane was selfless, kind, passionate, and always had a passion to help others even when it was not favorable to do so. He held the principles of not wanting to be a burden on anybody, but never considered people who sought his assistance as a burden to him”. Other tributes poured in for the dead including those from the General Council of AG, Central Regional Council of AG, Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, Children, etc.

Rev. Alex Omane passed away in his home on October 10, 2020. He left behind a wife, Mrs. Mary Omane, four children, and six grandchildren.
