Retirement services have been held for Rev. & Mrs. Andrew Yambil and Rev.Dr. & Mrs. Anthony K.A. Kumordjie. The retirement service of Rev. & Mrs. Andrew Yambil was held at the St. Andrews Lutheren Mission Ground in Bunkpurugu on 10th November, 2018. The day also marked his 48 years in ministry. Until then, Rev. Yambil was the head Pastor of Central Assemblies of God Church, Bunkpurugu in the Upper North region.
Rev.Dr. Anthony K.A. Kumordjie retired from the ministry on 28th October, 2018 after 40 years in the ministry. Until his retirement, he was the head Pastor of Standard Life Christian Centre AG at Oforikrom, Kumasi in the Ashanti East region.
These separate occasions brought together many well-wishers including Rev.Dr. Sam Ato Bentil, General Treasurer of Assemblies of God Ghana, who delivered the sermon on both occasions. Other dignitaries who were present include Rev. Peter Bandim, National Pensions Administrator, Regional executives, District executives, Reverend Ministers, Government officials, families and friends.

A good will message was read on behalf of the General Superintendent from the General Council and the Executive Presbytery acknowledged the two Ministers track record of being humble, dedicated and kind. The good will message further indicated that Rev. Yambil’s exemplary leadership had contributed immensely in shaping the direction of the Bunkpurugu AG, the departments, district and the region over the years and that his passion for missions which moved him to plant many churches in various towns and villages in the Northern region was remarkable. The Regional Superintendent of both Upper North and Ashanti East in their good will message expressed the region’s sincere gratitude to Rev. Yambil and Rev. Komordjie respectively.

The District Pastor, church board and other individuals also read their good will messages to the retirees. Rev. Peter Bandim made the declaration concerning the retirement of these two Ministers from the ministry and also presented to them their end of service benefits on behalf of the Pensions Board and Assemblies of God Ghana. The region, district, local church and other individuals took turns to present their gifts to the retirees.

PROFILE OF REV ANDREW YAMBIL
Rev. Andrew Yambil was born on the 8th June 1946 to Chamba Yambil Nabiak Kon-lan and Madam Panin Labjar in Jilik in the Northern Region of Ghana in the Bunkpurugu District. Rev. Andrew Yambil had his middle school education from 1960 to 1964 in Bunkpurugu.
Rev. Andrew Yambil accepted Jesus as his lord and Personal savior in 1955 under the ministry of Miss Davison and Miss Symonds from Britain, both were missionaries. He was filled with the Holy Spirit in 1963 and was baptized in water in 1964 in Nyasiso under the ministry of Rev Gyan Fosu in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. After his middle school education, he had the call of God and went to the Northern Ghana Bible Institute where he pursued his Diploma in Theology. Due to his excellent performance in the Bible school, he was elected as the class Speaker for graduation ceremony in their batch. Rev. Yambil was ordained on the 26th January 1979 at a Regional council meeting.
Rev. Andrew Yambil after completing his Bible course was posted to the Bunkpurugu Assemblies of God church in 1970, where he served as a pastor till the day of his 48th Anniversary in full time ministry which has been the grace and power of God that has sustained him in active ministry in the vine yard of God. Through his divine leadership calling, many pagans were brought to Christ and the church building was extended as the Church experienced an overflow of crowd. Under his ministry, the Bunkpurugu central Assemblies of God Ghana is ranked among high profile Churches of the Assemblies of God Ghana.
Rev. Yambil’s Ministry has demonstrated his leadership qualities in love for God’s work, humility, discipline, kindness, truth speaking and in cheerful giving. He held the position of District pastor on two consecutive times and has been a blessing and a Mentor to many pastors and Churches during his tenure of office. Moreover, he served as one of the Sunday school Representatives in the Nakpanduri District of the Assemblies of God Ghana. He also held the position of local Pentecostal council Chairman in the Bunkpurugu District and served the Bunkpurugu senior High Technical as a Board Chairman from 2002 to 2008.
The ministry of Rev. Andrew Yambil has raised many great men of God in the vineyard of the Almighty God. Some of these ministers raised by Rev. Andrew Yambil are still in active service while others are retired. These great men of God include: Rev.Rtd. Imoro-Tamale; Rev.Rtd. Bawa Jang Laar; Rev. Peter Jadaan; Ps. Matthew Louknaan; and Ps. Timothy Yambil.
Through crusades and evangelism programs, Rev. Andrew Yambil has opened many churches within the District and one other church in the Republic of Togo. These churches include Kauk A/G, Bamaung A/G, Tatala No. 1 A/G, Nanyiar A/G, kinkangu A/G, Nabauk A/G and Japar A/G, in Republic of Togo. These churches are still active and actively progressing.

Rev. Andrew Yambil got married to Miss Mariama Kojo on the 8th July 1972 and was blessed by Rev. Rtd. Aga Alo from Nalerigu. God has blessed Rev. Yambil and wife with five children of whom three are boys and two are girls. They are also blessed with Eight (8) grandchildren.
PROFILE OF REV. DR. ANTHONY KWASHIVI AHIABLI KUMORDJIE
Rev. Anthony K.A. Kumordjie was born on the 29th of July 1951 to Mr. Michael Semekor Kumordjie and Madam Nyabuodo Kumordjie at Akuse where his father was working as a Prison officer. They were natives of Aflao in Volta Region. Rev. Anthony Kumordjie started his basic education at Yendi in the Northern region of Ghana in 1955 and completed Middle School at Tarkwa where he obtained his MSLC in 1966.
He furthered his education at the Tamale Technical Institute and completed at the Tarkwa School of Mines in 1972 holding Automobile Mechanics Certificate. His parents were Catholics and he was baptized into the Catholic Church, hence, the name Anthony.
In 1967, Rev. Kumordjie worked in the Tarkwa Mines on casual basis before travelling to stay with his father’s cousin called Mr. Kemavor at Tema. God opened a way for him to work as an Automobile Mechanic in RT Briscoe Company in 1975. Later, he had a better opportunity to work at VALCO from August, 1975 to February, 1978.
Rev. Anthony Kumordjie gave his life to Christ at a Crusade in the Baiden Powell Hall, Accra when he was twenty one. He started worshipping in the Community 4 Assembly of God Church and the Tema Scripture Union (Tema Christian Fellowship).
Whiles fellowshipping in the Scripture Union, Rev. Kumordjie met Grace Ahenkorah who is a native of both Asante Kokofu and Akyem Adausena respectively and then a Methodist. They prayed for an open-door to get married and by God’s grace on 4th September, 1976 the Wedding bells rang in the Community 4 Assembly of God Church. God blessed them with 4 male children: Selase, Mawulom, Edem and Agbelengor.
Rev. Kumordjie’s firstborn was 3 month’s old when his faith was moved to enter into the SGBI. He was then a Sunday School teacher in the Community 4 Assembly of God Church and in March 1978, he was enrolled. On holidays he worked under Rev. Thomas Sarpong, who was the Senior Minister at the Sunyani Assembly of God. Rev. Sarpong detailed him to Bechem to help in crusades and evangelism. The experience he had in organizing crusades with the then Bechem Pastor, Rev. Jacob Tampuri and going from house to house and village to village evangelism encouraged him a lot.
As soon as he completed the Bible School in 1980, Rev. Kumordjie planted Faith Assembly of God at Nungua where He lived. The good relationship between Rev. Anthony Kumordjie and his Landlord, Ataa Blemadoo enabled him to acquire a plot of land on Buade Street and the Mother Church, Community 4 Assembly of God provided the resources for a temporary structure. The Nungua Church was three (3) years old when he left.
The Oforikrom Church was taken charge by Rev. Kumordjie when it was 3 years old that was in April 1983. Ayigya Bethel had then been planted and was also 3 months old and both of them were under his care. When Rev. Kumordjie took over as the Head Pastor Oforikrom Church in April 1983, they were worshipping in a classroom at Oforikrom K.C.C. School. They later moved into an old mattress warehouse for over 20 years but are now worshipping in their own premise closer to the former building.
Rev. Anthony Kumordjie, when he was C.A. Rep in the District helped Rev. Ebenezer Asamoah and some C.A. Team to plant Ejura Church. Other churches he planted include Atia AG, Asante Akyem Bomfa AG, Ehiawoawenwu AG, near Ejura and Bouban AG, near Asokore Mampong. In his ministry, Rev. Kumordjie visited distant areas like Amanteng, Sogakope, GuIumpe, Aflao, Techiman and other places to hold Easter Conventions and Revivals. Rev. Kumordjie also made mission trips to Amsterdam 2000 in Holland, UK-London, USA – Phoenix, Maryland, North Carolina and Cleveland Tennessee, Singapore, Philippines, Nigeria, Togo and other places.
Having flair and passion for teaching, Rev. Kumordjie taught in the Mid Ghana Bible School in the 90’s to 2003 Academic Year. The last batch of students he taught numbered 31 and some of them are now District Pastors in Brong Ahafo Region, Ashanti-East Region and in some other Regions. It would interest you to know that Mrs. Florence Baidoo and the Ashanti Regional Young Singles (Y’s) Co-ordinator, Rev.Mrs, Ernestina Ablordey are among the lot.
In September 2005, Rev. Anthony Kumordjie opened a 3-Year Bible School which was affordable and an evening class. The first Graduants were 8 and they were given Diploma in Ministry Certificates dated 8th July 2008. Some of his students are currently pastors such as Pastor Ntiamoah Boadi, Pastor Hanson Donani, Pastor John Amankwah. Others are Sunday School teachers and workers including Madam Agnes Arthur and Mrs. Grace Kumordjie his dear wife. When Rev. Kumordjie was making plans to further his education in Theology (i.e. Doctoral Programme) in Singapore, the running of the Life Way Christian College came to a halt.
