The General Superintendent, Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong-Manso has acknowledged the need to celebrate mothers as a church. The General Superintendent posited that “it is a fact of life that, apart from God, we owe our Mothers our own existence. They were the first faces we saw when we were born. Our Mothers are imprinted on our hearts and souls, no matter the circumstances – past or future, not even coronavirus.
In the statement released and communicated on Assemblies of God media platforms, Rev. Prof. Frimpong-Manso also quoted 2 Timothy 1:5 to explain how lois and Eunice nurtured Timothy to take up God’s work. He also believes that “we have several of such virtuous women among our congregations. To all such women, may the Lord crown your effort and may your labour never be in vain. To all Mothers who did not forget their babies but had compassion on them (Isaiah 49:15), may the Lord reward you with long life”.
The General Superintendent, on behalf of the E.P. Officers and the Assemblies of God fraternity in Ghana, also extended wishes to all mothers across the country and, especially our women’s ministries for their enormous support towards Assemblies of God Ghana. Mother’s day is normally marked with joyous celebrations and activities in our local churches spearheaded by the Women’s Ministries. This year’s celebrations could not go on as planned due to the ban on public gatherings as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Below is the full statement from the General Superintendent.
Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the month of May.
