The General Superintendent has urge Christians to be discipline since it is a core ingredient in life, especially among Pastors. He made this call during the 6th Regional Council Meeting of Central ‘A’ region at Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, South Campus-Kormantse. This event is an annual programme where pastors in the region meet to deliberate on issues and also strengthen their spiritual life. This was held between 1st and 5th February 2021.
In a sermon with the theme “Whom the Lord Strengthen” and scripture reference from Ezekiel 22: 17-31, Prof. Paul Yaw Frimpong-Manso encouraged Christians to uphold the virtue of discipline and comply with all the Covid-19 protocols. He further emphasized that God is still searching for Men regardless of the several indiscipline that has engulfed our country today. He noted that the days of Ezekiel witnessed indiscipline prophets, priests, and the whole nation was in a mess as compared to Ghana now where we have the majority of the population i.e. 70% being Christians, yet indiscipline abounds. “We are supposed to be the light and salt of this world, and we cannot do this without discipline”, he opined.
Rev. Prof. Frimpong-Manso who is also the Chairman of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) also admonished all Christians to observe the 5Ps proposed in his sermon if Christians want to excel in their spiritual life. He also urged the pastors who were to be ordained to also adhere to these 5Ps. “Purity is what God seeks from a man or woman and you should not compromise on your holiness for God as He is holy and pure (Matthew 5:8). There must be Character before Charisma”, he said. The General Superintendent also spoke about Purposeful and urged the pastors to be a man or woman of purpose and use Daniel as an example when he purposed in his heart not to eat the King’s meal. He also advised the pastors to be passionate to rescue this ‘sinking world’. The next was prayer and urged Christians to turn to the upper room always and not to be complacent in their prayer life. He stated that if all the theology fails, turn to praylogy. Finally, the General Superintendent emphasized power and stated that God wants men full of the spirit and not only with academic degrees. He summed up his sermon by stating that “God will always look for men with purity, who are purposeful, have passion for others and who prays with power.
The Regional Superintendent, Rev. Christian Essandoh, took time to teach pastors on the theme for the year, ‘Revive us again, Lord’- Psalm 85:6. At the climax of the event, the General and Regional Superintendent, on behalf of the Central Regional Council presented two (2) motorbikes for the mission work in the Ekumfi area since the Region has earmarked this particular area to be occupied with the gospel in 2021. The wife of the General Superintendent, Rev. Mrs. Gladys Frimpong-Manso, also pledged one motorbike in support of the Ekumfi mission project. Sixteen (16) Ministers were ordained by the General Superintendent during the ordination ceremony.
