Assemblies of God, Ghana, has unveiled its 2025 theme—”PRAY WITHOUT CEASING” (For Supernatural Manifestations)-1 Thessalonians 5:17, calling on its members and leaders to engage in daily prayer to strengthen their spiritual lives and relationship with God. The church’s General Superintendent, Reverend Stephen Yenusom Wengam, made the call on Thursday, November 14, 2024, when he announced the church’s 2025 theme at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.
This was during a combined Executive Presbytery(EP) and Key Leaders Capacity-Building and Prayer Retreat. The event brought together over 260 influential members of Assemblies of God including the General Secretary, 58 Executive Presbytery (EP) members with their spouses, district pastors, and leaders of AG agencies.
Addressing the retreat, Rev. Wengam emphasized continuous prayer as a foundational aspect of the church’s spiritual life. He urged Assemblies of God members and leaders to engage in daily and heartfelt prayers. “When we don’t pray as leaders, we kill the spirit of the church, and we eventually lose members” he stated. Rev. Wengam pointed out that prayer should not be seen as an occasional activity or a mere duty but as an essential, ongoing practice that strengthens the believer’s relationship with God. He underscored the importance of prayer stressing that, “Prayer is a daily necessity, the air we breathe. It’s a vital human need that provokes grace, opens the heavens, and brings the refilling of the Holy Spirit.” He further explained that prayer is foundational to the life of every Assemblies of God church member, activating spiritual power, releasing divine glory, and breaking down barriers such as addictions and limitations.
Rev. Wengam urged every Assemblies of God Pastor, District leader, and member to align with the 2025 theme by integrating it into their respective personal and communal worship. He reminded the leadership of the church of their responsibility to model continuous prayer, calling on them to inspire and guide their congregations in embracing the theme wholeheartedly. The General Superintendent indicated that as the church embarks on a journey to achieve its 2025 theme, it serves as both a call and a commitment of Assemblies of God members to deepen their prayer lives and prepare for a year of renewed spiritual vitality and breakthrough.
The 2025 theme was chosen after extensive prayer and consultation aimed at fostering a culture of constant prayer throughout Assemblies of God church congregations in Ghana. It emphasizes the transformative power of prayer, which is believed to activate angelic intervention, bring forth God’s glory, and enable the church to overcome challenges.
To achieve these aims, the theme focuses on four key areas: Prayer for Churches- by strengthening the foundation of all Assemblies of God churches through dedicated and consistent prayer, Fasting, and Prayer-through the institution of regular periods of fasting and prayer to deepen spiritual commitment.
The rest are Prayers for the Harvest of Souls by interceding for a revival and the salvation of new souls and Prayers for Supernatural Manifestation by seeking God’s presence and power to work miraculous signs and wonders.
